Led by Dr. Melissa Dabiri, this 2-hour training will introduce participants to research-based methods of effective peer tutoring. This will include discussing the role of a tutor, as well as the Tutoring Cycle, a foundation of steps to follow to ensure effective tutoring sessions. Participants will learn how to assess tutee's needs, how to model and provide guided practice, and how to avoid "just giving the answer."

This training session will also cover aspects of tutoring small groups, such as managing the unique dynamics of tutoring in a group setting while maintaining a leadership role as the tutor. Practical aspects of being a tutor, such as the process of logging your tutoring hours for payment and choosing appropriate tutoring settings, will also be discussed. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and discussions.

Dinner will be provided!
