Training
CTLO's training programs prepare Caltech instructors, teaching assistants, and others to meet students where they are, create inclusive classroom environments, and apply evidence-based teaching methods. Please explore to find out more:
- Teaching Assistant Orientations: required for all first-time TAs, whether graduate or undergraduate students, orientations are available at the beginning of each quarter.
- Head TAs: training includes strategies for course organization, communication, mentoring and managing TA teams, and more.
- Microteaching: practice teaching sessions, where peers sit in as "students" and share feedback under the guidance of an expert facilitator, are helpful before starting to teach, and at later points.
- Course Ombuds: training for students serving as liaisons with faculty and instructors is offered each quarter.
