Department / Option / Core Programs
Many aspects of teaching depend deeply on the discipline and context, making CTLO's work with divisions, options, departments, and curricula important aspects of supporting university education at Caltech. We draw upon extensive knowledge of Discipline Based Educational Research (DBER) and work closely with colleagues in the disciplines at Caltech on programs such as those below.
- Teaching Fellows: CTLO trains and mentors "teaching fellows," who are typically advanced graduate students appointed by departments, divisions, or options to serve as teaching mentors or in special teaching-related roles.
- Inclusive Caltech Core: A faculty learning community for those teaching Core Curriculum courses, focusing on inclusive teaching methods informed by student data and input.
- Discipline-based Teaching Colloquia: CTLO regularly collaborates with divisions and departments to bring guest speakers with educational expertise into their colloquia series. Contact us to explore possibilities.
- Division/option Data on Teaching: CTLO may be able to provide data on division/option-level participation in teaching innovation, educational improvement, and other efforts on request. Contact us to find out more.
