Designing Lessons for K-12 Classrooms: Session 2
Walking into a K-12 classroom for the first time to do outreach can be intimidating. How can you know that the children you're presenting to will really understand your lesson? If you plan to do K-12 classroom outreach during your time at Caltech, this workshop is for you.
Presented by experienced K-12 science teacher and teacher coach Ariel Raymond, workshop attendees will learn essentials for classroom work, including how to develop a lesson plan, how to align a lesson plan with state or national standards, strategies for student engagement, formative assessment techniques, and more. Many of these strategies are also useful for college-level teaching!
The workshop will be held in two 1.5 hour sessions, the first to give you everything you need to know, the second to work on your own classroom lesson.
