If you are a K-12 teacher or an interested volunteer, we welcome you to our first Community Science Event, "The Secret Life of a Snowflake," headlined by Prof. Ken Libbrecht of the Physics Department. At these events, university faculty will present seminars on cutting edge research. Students and staff will showcase interactive lab demonstrations -- everything from cloud chambers to instant crystals to snowflake machines -- spanning all levels. Arts and humanities representatives will provide context and links to other areas, e.g. history, language, music, and writing. Teachers at all levels will follow up right then and there by creating lessons together, linked to each other through core disciplinary strands and shared thoughtsThe ultimate result: lessons created by teachers for teachers, in the context of the myriad innovations being developed in our backyard.

Come join us for this educational outreach extravaganza and lesson-jam teachathon! Dinner and dessert will be served.

If you would like to build an activity or run a demo, register now! and make a difference in our local schools.

If you would like to participate as a teacher -- or know a teacher who would like to participate -- register now! and be part of our teaching and learning community.
